A couple of weeks ago I went to visit my kids. While hanging out with Ms. A, she introduced me to chai tea latte. It was love at first taste!! What I didn't care for was the fact that it is made with black tea. Once I returned to my home, I started to experiment to see if I could come up with a caffeine free version. This is what I came up with:
Chai Tea Latte Mina Style
(Makes 4 cups)
2 ginger tea bags
1 cups water
3 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 pinches ground candamom
1/8 tsp ground cinnammon
2 cups milk, chilled
ice
Make a tea with the tea bags, water, and honey.
Remove the tea bags and allow tea to cool.
Place all ingredients except the ice in a blender.
Blend until bubbly.
Drop ice into large cup.
Pour liquid over ice.
When I made this, I couldn't drink all four cups of it, so I made paletas (popcycles) out of the rest. I think I might like it better as paletas than as tea!!!

Today was mothers day. It was a good day. I started my day waking up to breakfast in bed. Hubby Dear made me a country potatoes with egg skillet and a fruit platter. I snarfed up the potatoes and eggs before I even though of practicing my picture taking skills. I did take pictures of the fruit platter and because I am using this blog page to keep track of my progress with my hobbies(photography being one of them), I will post many photos:
Hubby Dear also presented me with not one, but two flower bouquets that he grew in his treasured garden!
Later in the day, I tried experimenting with a cupcake recipe that I am hopefully going to use at little Cabbage's baby shower. Ms.S requested tres leches (three milk) flavored cupcakes. This is what I did:
I baked cupcakes using a white cake mix and following the recipe that is on the box. I used the foil cupcake liners:
I then sliced the tops of the cupcakes off (saving the sliced off part). Using a chopstick I then poked holes into the bottom part of the cupcake.
I mixed together: 1 can evaporated milk, 1 can sweet concensed milk, and one can coconut milk. I then gently peeled the foil away from the cupcake sides, leaving it attacked to the bottom, and placed it back into the cupcake tray. I slowly poured about 1 tbsp of the milk mixture over each cupcake and let it sit, then poured another tbsp over each and let them sit for about 45 minutes.
Once the cupcakes had set, I placed a small amount of whipped cream on each of the cupcake tops and stuck them back onto the cupcake bottoms. I finished them off by frosing with whipped cream and garnishing with chopped candy bar. Here is the finished product:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
After tasting the cupcakes, I decided they needed more of the milk mixture, so I think I will add one more tbsp during the soaking period. I also think I might poke holes into the tops and pour a little milk mixture over them once they are in place back on the cupcakes.
Although the photo shows the cupcake without the foil, Im not sure if I will serve them with or without the foil. I'm thinking they might be too moist to serve without the foil.

I went to the fabric store and found some awesome yarns!! I could't resist. Now that I have all of these super cute yarns, I will have to use them...oh darn... ;-)
I'm sure you have heard that you should never go to the grocery store on an empty stomach. Well, you should NEVER go to a fabric store with this on your mind:
This is my grandson that will be blessing us with his presence. He is due to come out of the oven in July. As a result of his quickly approaching arrival, I have been a bussy bee making props for his newborn baby pictures. I am also trying to teach myself how to take decent pictures with my new camera.
Here are some of the props I have made so far; however, I had to use a baby substitute since baby "Cabbagge" (Auntie Audrey has already given him a nickname) is not here yet.

A few weeks ago I went shooting and enjoyed myself. The only thing that kept it from being a totally awesome experience was the lack of somewhere dry and clean to set my first gun while shooting my second gun.
I thought and thought and then thought some more, then the light bulb went on. Why not make a gun mat that would give me a clean dry surface for me to put my shooting paraphenilia on?
This is what I came up with:
The first image is a little blurry but it shows the gun placement on the mat.
I haven't used my mat yet, but I will post a reivew of it once I go shooting again.
While we are on the topic of guns, I took some photos of my husbands favorite gun. It's my take on "Guns and Roses." The roses I used in the photos are dry roses that hubby dear gave me for Valentines Day a year ago.
